GMet Warns of Oncoming Rainstorms

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has envisaged rainstorms in parts of the country from Thursday morning through to the afternoon.

In a communique, the Agency warned that the rainstorm is likely to be accompanied by moderate to strong winds.

The rains, it said, are anticipated to emanate from two separate thunderstorms from Northern Benin and Nigeria.

“A rainstorm that is moderately producing thunderstorms with rain over Northern Benin into Togo is expected to drift further Westwards to affect the northern half of Ghana. However, a separate rainstorm observed over Nigeria is also expected to propagate westward to affect the coastal and middle sectors of the country.”

The storm from Benin will affect towns including Bolgatanga, Nareligu, Wulugu, Bawku, Bole, Damongo, Paga, Pina, Navrongo, Yendi, Tamale and its environs between half-past seven in the morning to half-past 11 am.

Meanwhile, towns like Wa, Tumu, Yipala, Funsi and their environs will have their share of rain between 9:30 am and 2:30 pm, it forecasted.

The storm from Nigeria will affect coastal towns like Accra, Kasoa, Tema, Aflao, Ada, Foah, Ho, Dodze, Sogakope, Akatasi and its environs between 9 am and 2 pm while Kumasi, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Axim, Saltpond, Mankessim, Tarkwa and its environs will have their fair share from 12 pm to 4 pm.
