“With the 2023 Seasonal Forecast issued in March this year by the Agency and based on further surveillance and analysis of global and national forecast model chart by GMet seasonal Forecast Desk and Central Analysis and Forecast Office (CAFO), the 2023 major rainy season for southern Ghana has reached its peak.”

In an advisory, it said the number of wet weather conditions is expected to decrease between now and the second week of August.

However, it noted that moderate to severe squalls are to be expected in the course in the Ashanti Region, Eastern Region, Volta Region and coastal areas.

Meanwhile, it indicated the Northern sector is advancing into its rainy season.

“As such, frequent thunderstorms or rain with varying intensities, lightening and moderate to windy conditions which could result in flash floods.”

With a forecast humidity range between 80 and 100% humidity across all the sectors, Ghanaians have been directed to take along a raincoat or umbrella; check weather conditions before planning outdoor events; cloth children with warm attires at night and in the morning; use fog light during foggy conditions; and avoid driving through flood waters.
