Ghana’s Inflation Climbs To 33.9%
Ghana’s inflation rate has again seen a climb according to statistics put out by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).
For the month of August 2022, inflation hit 33.9%, an increase from the 31.7% recorded in July.
Food inflation for August was 34.4%while non-food inflation was33.6%.
According to the GSS, Inflation for locally produced items was 33.4%, whereas that of imported products was 35.2%.
Regionally, the Eastern region recorded the highest inflation rate, 41.0% while Upper East East recorded the least-22.8%.
Housing, water electricity, gas and other fuels; Transport; Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance; Recreation, sport and culture; Personal care, social protection and miscellaneous goods and services; and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages recorded inflation rates higher than the national rate.
