Don’t Let Anyone Use My Name to Manipulate You – Otumfuo to Reg Police Commander

The Occupant of the Golden Stool has alerted Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjo, about attempts by unscrupulous individuals to misuse his name for dishonest acts.
During a meeting with the Commander, the King warned that some traditional authorities might be among those attempting to misuse his name and advised him to be cautious.
Otumfuo advised the former Central North Regional Police Commander who took over from DCOP Frank Abrokwa in the middle of February to verify all claims and orders that may be attributed to him by persons who visit him in his office.
“Verify from me if any chief comes to you in my name, if any chief tries to use my name to influence your duty. Don’t permit anyone to use my name to influence your work dubiously and dishonestly.”
Meanwhile, the Asantehene gave him some directions on handling cases involving Chieftaincy and land disputes.
“I don’t want land guards here. No matter where the land is, it belongs to me and there are caretakers. Where there is a land dispute, we delve into it and resolve it and so there shouldn’t be violence in relation to lands. If that happens inform me immediately and tell the parties my directive will be adhered to.”
His Majesty furthered, “Chieftaincy disputes are resolved amicably by us. When anyone comes to you with such, arrest all the parties and come and inform me. All disputes about chieftaincy is a matter royalty and some form of dishonesty fuelled by bribery and we resolve that using family trees. I have made it clear that whoever pays money to anyone to have his case ruled in his favour, it’s in vain. When it comes before me, the truth prevails.”
Otumfuo also raised concerns about illegal mining activities in the country and its ravages.
“Galamsey is also a major concern. Though the youth are seeking jobs but there is no excuse to destroy natural resources….soon we won’t have water. We all have to benefit but we have to benefit the right way.”
These statements were made when the Regional Commander paid a visit to the Manhyia Palace to officially introduce himself to the Monarch on February 28, 2025.
His delegation made up of ACP Stephen K. Kwakye, the Deputy Regional Commander, ACP Ameyaw Afriyie, Manhyia District Commander, Godwin Ahianyo, the Public Relations Officer and others was led by DCOP Frank Abrokwa, the former Regional Commander.
In his speech, he affirmed his commitment to raising the bar in terms of security in the Region.
“I assure you that I will serve Asanteman and Ghana. I will dedicate the power, strength and wisdom I will draw from Otumfuo to serve with all commitment. I know with Otumfuo’s Support, we will lift Asanteman and our security wil be paramount and we will make it safe.”
