Three Players Suspended For Mali Qualifier and Why

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the suspension of three players ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali.
It comes after the Chad draw on Thursday, August 4, 2025.
The three players are Thomas Partey, Ibrahim Sulemana and Elisha Owusu.
According to the Association, Thomas Teye Partey fell ill before the Chad match, while Ibrahim Sulemana picked up a knee knock in the final training session in D’Djamena.
It explained that Elisha Owusu stands ineligible due to accumulated yellow cards.
Coach Otto Addo has since handed a late call-up for Real Oviedo midfielder Kwasi Sibo as a replacement.
“Sibo’s impressive form for his club, including featuring in all three matches since the start of the season, has caught the attention of coach Otto Addo, who is dealing with midfield concerns.”
