Ghana Records Fourth Lowest Inflation Rate in 13 Months

Ghana has recorded its fourth lowest inflation rate in 13 months at 22.4%, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has announced.
It is also the fourth consecutive drop in inflation, according to the Government Statistician, Prof. Samuel Kobina Annim.
Speaking at a press conference on April 2, he said the rate of inflation in March 2025 depicts a 0.7% slow-down in the rate of inflation on a year-on-year basis.
“From a thirteen-month perspective, from March 2024 to March 2025 with a rate of inflation of 22.4%, this is the fourth lowest that has been recorded over the period. It dipped to 20.4% and hovered around 20.9% and 21.5% between July and September 2024.
“Since then, we have recovered a rate of inflation of 22.4% in March 2025. The rate of inflation of 22.4% is the lowest in the last four months. The rate of inflation peaked at 23.8% gradually slowing down to 23.5%, 23.1% and 22.4% for the month of March 2025.”
The inflation, he indicated was being driven by Food and non-alcoholic beverages (25.5%); Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and other fuels (25.1%); and Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics (23.8%).
Food and Non-Food Inflation
Prof Kobina Annim further announced that food Inflation stood at 26.5% down from 28.1% with a Non-food Inflation of 18.7%
Additionally, the GSS put locally produced goods’ inflation stood at 24% while inflation for imported items stood at 18.7%
Regional Distribution
Regionally, it was reported that the Upper West Region recorded the highest rate of inflation at 36.2%.
“This is approximately twice the region that recorded the lowest inflation for March 2025.”
Meanwhile, the Volta Region had the lowest inflation rate at 18.9%.
