Ghana Post Suspends Deliveries To US

The Ghana Post has announced a suspension of deliveries to the United States of America effective today, August 26, 2025.

This affects the acceptance and dispatch of all mails to the USA including letters, parcels, and EMS.

In a notice, it explained that the decision follows a recent U.S. Executive Order that is imposing import duties on packages to the U.S.A.

“Several of our partner airlines have temporarily suspended cargo services to the USA.”

It noted that it was working with the United States Postal Service and other airline partners to implement the new requirements and will communicate service restoration as soon as possible.

“All other destinations remain unaffected. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience,” it added.

U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order last month, which ends the global import tax exemption on low-value parcels, set to take effect on August 29.

While gifts valued under $100 will remain duty-free, all other packages will now be subject to the same tariff rates as other goods from their country of origin.

Last week, postal services, including Royal Mail and Germany’s DHL, said they would suspend deliveries until they had proper systems in place to deal with the new rules.
