Ghana Drops In FIFA Rankings

The Black Stars of Ghana have dropped to the 67th place on global men’s team ranking by world football governing body FIFA.

They dropped from 61st position, where they ended in the last ranking to 67th.

Their abysmal performance at the just ended 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Tournament hosted in Cote d’Ivoire played a major role in their current rating.

The team exited at the Group Stage after failing to win any of their group games, losing one and drawing two.

In the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) ranking, Ghana placed 14th being preceded by Morocco, Senegal, Nigeria, Egypt, Cote d’Ivoire, Tunisia, Algeria, Mali, Cameroon, South Africa, Burkina Faso, DR Congo, and Cape Verde.

Meanwhile, before the tournament, Ghana ranked 11th in Africa.

The rankings released by FIFA on Thursday, however, showed African teams like Angola, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, South Africa, Cabo Verde, Namibia and Mali moving up in rankings.
