Ghana Acquires New Airbus to Boost Air Force

The Government of Ghana has acquired a new Airbus H175 helicopter from France to strengthen the operational capabilities of the Ghana Air Force.

The aircraft is expected to support a broad range of missions such as search and rescue operations, medical evacuation, humanitarian assistance, disaster response, maritime surveillance, troops and logistics transport.

The helicopter is equipped with advanced systems, extended operational range and increased payload capacity to improve endurance, flexibility and rapid response capability in addressing both conventional and emerging security challenges.

The aircraft will undergo post-delivery procedures in accordance with Ghana Air Force operational requirements before it is fully deployed for service.

A ceremony marking the reception of the helicopter into the Air Force fleet was attended by the Acting Minister for Defence, Hon Dr Cassiel Ato Forson; the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza; and the Deputy Minister for Defence, Hon Ernest Brogya Genfi.

Also present were the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, senior military officers, dignitaries and representatives from the Embassy of France in Ghana.

The event featured a ceremonial water salute, consecration and inspection of the aircraft.
