GFA ‘Sorry’ For Black Stars AFCON Qualifiers Failure
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has rendered an unqualified apology to Ghanaians for the disappointing showpiece that was displayed at the just concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The Black Stars failed to win any of the six qualifying games and ended bottom of Group F with three points. This marked the first time the senior national team has failed to qualify for the AFCON in 20 years.
In a statement, it acknowledged the team’s abysmal output.
“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) wishes to express its sincerest apologies to the good people of Ghana for the Black Stars’ inability to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025.”
“We understand the disappointment and frustration this failure has caused, and we share in the pain and sadness of our beloved fans. We acknowledge that the team’s performance did not meet the high expectations of the nation, and for that, we are truly sorry.”
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament will take place in Morocco.
