GFA Investigates Masquerading RTU Players
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has instituted a thorough investigation into alleged impersonation by some Division Two players in the Real Tamale United-Dreams FC match that took place on Wednesday.
The players, yet to be identified were fielded by RTU in the match which ended 8-1 in favour of the “Still Believe” lads at Dawu.
Reports indicate that the registered RTU players boycotted the game over their six-month unpaid remuneration.
In reaction to this, the Chairman of the club allegedly recruited some second-division players and bused them to play the game, masquerading the real team players.
According to Sports journalist Saddick Adams, the Captain of the RTU confirmed he was in Tamale at the time of the game but was recorded to have played the game in Dawu.
The FA says it is conducting a probe to ascertain the identities of the masqueraders.
“The GFA Prosecution is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the players alleged to have engaged in impersonation. Once the investigation is complete and their true identities are confirmed, appropriate charges will be brought against any individuals found culpable.”
The Association also highlighted its commitment to upholding the integrity of the game and ensuring that all participants adhere to the established rules and regulations.
