GES Suspends 2 SHS Headmistresses
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has suspended two Senior High School (SHS) headmistresses in the country for different reasons.
It comes as the admission process for 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates is ongoing in senior high and technical schools across the country.
Patience Naki Mensah, the headmistress of Ghana Senior High School (GHANASS) has been accused of going against the national prospectus for freshers and selling ceremonial clothes and track suites at GHC200 and GHc 250 respectively as well as other items.
Nadia Lartechoe Annan of O’Reilly SHS in the Greater Accra Region, on the other hand, is faulted for allegedly taking “unauthorized” money from freshers as part of conditions for admission.
Both authorities have been asked to step aside for investigations.
The GES ahead of the release of school placements for the candidates announced a uniform prospectus classified as a national prospectus as a means of forestalling past concerns.
Schools were directed to adhere to the national prospectus without incorporating additional items.
