GES Declares Today Holiday For Schools
Schools across the country are not expected to run today, March 7 after the Independence Day Celebration on Wednesday.
In a statement on March 6, the Head of Public Relations at the Ghana Education Service (GES), Cassandra Twum Ampofo announced the declaration of Thursday as a holiday for school children.
“It is announced for the information of all schools and the general public that Thursday, 7th March has been declared a holiday for all school children in Ghana.”
This is to give students who engaged in the 6th March parade adequate time to rest.
“This is to enable them to have some rest after preparing vigorously for the Independence Day Anniversary Parade.”
Meanwhile, she noted that academic activities will resume fully on Friday, March 8, 2024.
Ghana on Wednesday marked her 67th anniversary following her independence from colonial rule on March 6, 1957, with the resilient spirit of some of the country’s forebearers, led by former President Kwame Nkrumah.
The national event took place in Koforidua in the Eastern Region and was attended by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President Alassane Ouattara of Cote d’Ivoire, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Bagbin, First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo, Second Lady Samira Bawumia and diplomats.
