GAF Holds Accomplishment Parade For Returned-Military Officers After Mission In Gambia
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) says it held a parade for soldiers who returned home after a successful mission in the Gambia, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Mission in the Gambia (ECOMIG).
The parade was held on Monday, May 2, 2022, at the Air Force Base in Accra, the GAF said.
“A mission accomplishment parade has been held for Ghana Company 5 (GHANCOY 5) after a successful one year tour of duty with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Mission in the Gambia (ECOMIG) on Monday 9 May 2022 at the Air Force Base, Accra.”
Addressing the parade was the Director General (DG) for Defence Communication and Information Systems, Brig Gen Anthony Ntem commended the troops for the professionalism they displayed during their tour in the Gambia.
He stated that the Military High Command had monitored their operational activities keenly since their departure and was aware of the challenges and constraints under which they operated in the Mission Area.
He however assured personnel that critical measures were being put in place to ease the constraint under which troops operate in the Mission Areas.
He also mentioned that as part of the expansion and restructuring of Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Formations, new Units had been established to help in safeguarding the territorial boundaries of Ghana.
He urged all who would find themselves posted to these new establishments to demonstrate a high sense of professionalism, loyalty and discipline at all times. “Whatever positive operational lessons you have learnt should be applied to the benefit of GAF”, he said according to the GAF.
On behalf of the Chief of the Defence Staff and the Military High Command, he presented a citation to the Commanding Officer (CO), Lt Col Andrew Awuni for his immeasurable commitment and contribution towards the successes chalked by the Company during their tour of duty, the GAF relayed.
