The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has performed a Water cannon salute to welcome United Nigeria Airlines into Ghana’s aviation sector.
The airline was received with the symbolic water cannon salute performed by the Rescue and Firefighting Service section of Ghana Airports Company Limited.
This was during the inaugural flight of the airline on the Accra-Abuja-Lagos route on Monday, November 10, 2025.
In her welcome remarks. Managing Director of GACL, Mrs Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, said the commencement of flight operations on the Accra-Abuja-Lagos route was a clear demonstration of the growing confidence in Ghana’s aviation industry.
She added that it further reinforced ongoing efforts to position Ghana as a preferred aviation hub in West Africa.
She believes that the arrival of United Nigeria Airlines marked the beginning of a new era of convenience and efficiency – offering passengers more travel options and greater connectivity between the region’s most vibrant cities.
The Accra service marks UNA’s first international operation since the airline began commercial flights in February 2021.
