GACL Apologises over Kotoka Airport Power Cut

The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has apologized to passengers who were inconvenienced by a power cut at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

The incident occurred on Tuesday around 5 pm and was confirmed in a press statement.

“Management extends its sincere apologies to passengers who were affected by the brief downtime.”

The Company explained that backup power generation developed electrical faults after a power outage.

“Ghana Airports Company Limited wishes to confirm that on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at approximately 17.48hrs, there was a power outage at Kotoka International Airport as a result of the heavy downpour of rain.”

“The backup power generating system came on as expected, but an electrical system fault prevented the deployment of power to the terminal.”

It said power was fully restored at 18.19hrs.

Meanwhile, it reiterated its commitment to provide seamless passenger facilitation at the airport.
