Friendlies Squad: Reasons Behind Absence of Kudus, Ayew, Partey, Others

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has adduced the reasons behind the absence of over 10 key players from the squad list for Japan and South Korea friendlies.

Among the players are Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Elisha Owusu,  Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Alexander Djiku, Inaki Williams, Joseph Painstil and Abdul Mumin.

According to the Director of Communication at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, Jordan has suffered a knee injury, while Partey is undergoing load management due to a knee issue.

Kudus is said to be recovering from a knock and needs time to be fully fit, whereas Elisha and Issahaku, respectively, have ankle issues and are recovering from an ACL injury.

On the other hand, Djiku is reportedly bedevilled with injury worries and unable to train.

While Inaki is out for six weeks, Painstil is out for personal reasons.

Meanwhile, Abdul Mumin, Tariq Lamptey, and Ernest Nuamah are out as a result of long-term injuries.

In response to this, Coach Otto Addo has called up new faces, including Prince Kwabena Adu, Kelvin Nkrumah, and Prince Osei Owusu, to provide fresh options for the team.

Ghana will take on Japan on Friday, November 14, before travelling to Seoul to face South Korea on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
