Former NPP MP Says Her Dad Would Be Glad after NDC Defection

Former Member of Parliament for Lower West Akim Constituency, Gifty Klenam, is certain beyond every reasonable doubt that her late father would be glad to see her bold step to defect to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
At a presser on January 30, 2025, the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) member who revealed she assisted the NDC win power in the December polls made the disclosure.
“It was my father’s wish that I join the NDC,” she said as she held out her Governance membership card.
Motivation
In her remarks, Gifty said her dreams of developing Ghana align with the ideology of the NDC.
“I strongly believe that with the factors carefully conceded, the best way to achieve the Ghana we all dream of is through the NDC. Upon extensive reflection and discussion with my family, I believe the NDC aligns more with the values and vision for mother Ghana.”
Expressing her gratitude to her new party for welcoming her with open arms, she said she is willing to offer the party her expertise and resources to realise her dream.
“I think it’s time for the people who love Ghana to be bold and do whatever is necessary for Ghana’s development. I bring with me twice the amount of fire, experience and zeal to join my new family, the NDC and I am grateful to the NDC for opening their arms and receiving me.”
Objective
Gifty now plans to connect and build a relationship with the grassroots.
“I intend to connect with the NDC grassroots to hear their concerns and see how I can help. My personal office is available to all NDC patriots, the grassroots and like-minded Ghanaians especially the youth to assist in any way that I can.”
Appreciation
Meanwhile, she thanked her former party for the platform they offered her to become a lawmaker twice.
“I want first to state my appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to the NPP for having given me the opportunity to serve on its thicket as MP for two terms and a short-lived time as CEO under HE Nana Addo Dankea Akufo-Addo government.”
