Fire Outbreak Disrupts Power Supply to Parts of Accra
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) says the disruption in power supply in the western part of Accra is a result of a fire outbreak near the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) 161KV transmission.
The outbreak took place on Wednesday evening.
A notice released by the ECG read, “The Electricity Company of Ghana wishes to inform our cherished customers and the general public that at 5:31 pm on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, a fire outbreak occurred only near the GRIDCo 161KV transmission network causing interruption of power supply to the Accra Central bulk supply point (BSP).”
It noted that power supply was restored to the BSP; however, the technical challenge later impacted the Mallam BSP also, leading to the current interruption of power supply to customers in mainly the Western parts of Accra.
It assured that the technical hitches affecting customers will be rectified by GRIDCo for power restoration.
