FIFA Embarks on Women Football Campaign in Kumasi Next Week

FIFA and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) will next week embark on a campaign for women’s involvement in football in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

The programme targeting girls under 12 years will take place on November 12 and 13 at the Opoku Ware School.

The participating primary schools in the Ashanti Region include 10 from the Suame Municipal, seven from Kwadaso Municipal, 6 from Asokore Mampong Municipal and 9 from the Kumasi Metro.

Announcing it, the FA said the programme will provide a unique platform to encourage girls’ participation in women’s football at the grassroots level whilst promoting the game and implementing the GFA Women’s Football Strategy.

“With the GFA’s aim of developing grassroots football across the country, this initiative will help girls improve their abilities, be ambitious, play without judgment, make their own decisions, and play in small-sided games.”
