Fake Samba Oniel Accounts on X Defrauding Fans- Kotoko
The Asante Kotoko Sporting Club have noticed and exposed some fake accounts on X, formerly Twitter purported to belong to their new signing, Ndongani Samba Gilbani Oneil and defrauding some fans.
“It has come to our attention that some fraudulent individuals have created FAKE Facebook, and ‘X’ (Twitter) accounts in the name of our Congolese center-back, NDONGANI SAMBA GILBANI ONEIL,” it said in a statement on Friday, July 19, 2024.
The Club said the faceless persons behind the accounts have befriended fans and in some cases tried to trick them into handing over money.
Publishing the Congolese’s official social media accounts, the public was urged to take note to avoid falling prey to the scheme.
“PLEASE NOTE that Samba Oneil’s only official online accounts are Gilbani Samba_4 https://www.facebook.com/Gilbani4?mibextid=LQQJ4don Facebook and https://www.instagram.com/gilbani_4…on Instagram.
“Any other social media account bearing his name is not official and does not relate to him nor represent his thoughts. The player will inform the public when he creates any other social media account.”
Kotoko earlier this month signed the Congolese and featured him in their Democracy Cup competition that took place in Accra on Wednesday.
He won the player of the match after Kotoko put two past Hearts of Oak to win the game.
