Ernest Nuamah to Miss Ghana’s September World Cup Qualifiers

Ghana international Ernest Nuamah will miss the country’s qualifying games against Chad and Mali after picking up an injury during a game between Olympique Lyon and Lille on Sunday.
This means that the 21-year-old Ghanaian winger’s season is over.
He was forced off the pitch five minutes into the game which ended 2-1 in favour of his club.
In a statement, Lyon confirmed Nuamah had a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
“Olympique Lyonnais deplores the serious injury of Ernest Nuamah, a victim of a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee that occurred on Saturday night during the OL / Lille match.”
The club has since expressed its full support toward the player’s total recovery.
“OL gives its full support to Ernest and will do everything possible to allow him to return in the best conditions.”
The winger played a pivotal role in Ghana’s qualifying game in March, scoring a goal against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium.
He will miss the four-nation tournament slated for June as well as the qualifiers in September.
