Burna Boy wins first Grammy Award
Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu known by the stage name as Burna Boy has won his first ever award at the
Grammies held on 14th March 2021.
Burna Boy’s album “Twice as Tall” has won the recording artist the “Best Global Music Album” at the Premiere Ceremony of the 63rd Grammy Awards.
He is the first winner of the recently renamed category, formerly known as Best World Music Album. The category saw nominees like Antibalas, Bebel Gilberto, Anoushka Shankar and Tinariwen.
Burna Boy got his first Grammy nomination in 2019 where his album “African Giant” was nominated in the same category of which he eventually lost it to fellow African Angelique Kidjo at the 62nd Grammy Awards in 2020.
