Ekumfi Won’t Repeat Mistake of Voting For NPP Again – MP
The Member of Parliament for Ekumfi Constituency, Hon. Abeiku Crentsil, has stated that the Ekumfi Constituency is an entrenched stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The constituency, which was known as an NDC stronghold, voted for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Parliamentary elections in 2016; however, in 2020, it reverted to its traditional support for the NDC.
In an interview on Eyewitness News monitored by opemsuo.com, the incumbent MP asserted that the area has now solidified its allegiance to the NDC.
According to him, the constituents will not repeat their mistake of opting for the NPP over the NDC, given the NPP’s track record of depriving them of the needed development and infrastructure.
Though he won’t run again for the seat, he posits that the next candidate of the NDC will win.
“It’s a very unfortunate statement, and there is no way the people of Ekumfi will vote for NPP. There is no way. They made the first mistake, and they will never repeat it. Though I’m not running, whoever runs in the next election on the ticket of the NPP will win.”
He said this while reacting to President Akufo-Addo’s justification for depriving Ekumfi of the needed development during a visit by the family of the country’s late and former President John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills.
“Ato Cudjoe was your MP, and I made him a Deputy Minister, and you voted him out in the last elections, and because of that, I did not pay attention to development in your area. I have to be honest with you, but since you have brought it up, I will pay attention to it,” President Akufo-Addo said on January 12.
