EduWatch Boss Lauds GES for Teacher Self-Posting Module
The Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, Kofi Asare, has hailed the Ghana Education Service (GES) for its newly introduced recruitment module for trained teachers across the country.
He believes the initiative will be a “game changer” if allowed to operate independently.
“The new GES Teacher Self-Posting Module, if allowed to function without interference, will be the game changer for Teacher Posting Equity in Basic Schools. Great Initiative!” he posted on Facebook.
The GES announced the introduction of the module for the recruitment of teachers on July 4.
The module allows graduates to select their preferred region, district, and school for their posting via the GES portal ( https://www.gespromotions.gov.gh).
The self-placement portal is accessible between July 5 and July 31, allowing 12,784 applicants from the first batch of Colleges of Education degree-holders to choose a place to teach.
Processes
As part of the process, applicants are directed to enter their phone number and NTC number accurately to receive a One-Time Password (OTP) on their provided phone number. They can then select their preferred region, district, and school, submit their application, save and print the appointment letter.
Each appointment letter includes a QR code that can be scanned with their smartphones to confirm the letter’s authenticity.
Once done, successful applicants are required to visit their respective Regional Education Directorates with their Ghana Card and other necessary documents for further verification and instructions.
