Education Minister Announces Date For 2024 WASSCE Results Release
The Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has announced December 29 as the date for the release of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.
This follows an engagement with the West African Examination Council (WAEC) on Tuesday, December 23.
“I was here with the Director-General of Ghana Education Service, and we are satisfied with the level of preparation and the work being done by WAEC, and we are grateful for their service and for the fact that even during this break, they have staff here working around the clock to ensure that the results will be released for our students to continue with their education.”
Concerns have been raised after the Council disclosed it had suspended the marking of exam papers after its scanners got damaged.
In a statement issued two weeks ago, WAEC noted that it was awaiting an outstanding balance of ₵118,000,000 debt owed by the government to procure new scanners to continue the marking.
With the engagement of the Council, the Minister is hopeful that the results will be released either on December 29 or earlier to enable university applicants to get enrolled early next year.
“This morning, we visited WAEC and we have been taken around and they are working and by December 29 or before, the results of our exams will be out so that the universities can go about their job of making sure our students will also be given admission to pursue their various degree and diploma programmes.
