EC Begins Voters’ Register Exhibition
The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana will on Friday exhibit the provisional voters’ register across polling stations for verification by voters.
It comes ahead of the District-Level elections slated for mid-December.
At a presser on Wednesday, the Deputy Chair of the EC, Samuel Tettey, said the exercise will span for five days across the 38,622 polling stations in the country starting at 7 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m. each day.
“As part of the commission’s preparation towards the conduct of the district level elections slated for 19 November 2023, the commission will display or exhibit the provisional voters register at all the 38,622 polling stations across the country. The Commission will therefore exhibit the provisional voters register simultaneously at all polling stations which will serve as exhibition centres throughout the country from Friday 3rd November to Tuesday 7th November 2023.”
He said the exercise will enable prospective voters to verify details including name, age and gender and input the necessary rectification.
Additionally, he said the exercise will keep prospective voters abreast with their polling station.
It comes after the Commission concluded the limited registration exercise and replacement of lost cards some weeks ago.
The Commission will hold District Level Elections on December 19, 2023, in 6,272 electoral areas in 259 out of a total of 261 districts in the country.
District-level elections are held every four years.
