Drivers of Kwabre Demand Immediate Action on Deplorable Roads
Drivers of Abirem, Antoa, Krobo and Adesina in the Kwabre East municipality of the Ashanti Region have voiced their concerns regarding the deteriorating condition of their roads.
These communities are interconnected by roads that have fallen into a state of disrepair, causing significant challenges for commuters.
In an interview on Nkwantannanso with George Adjei on June 30, Mr Kwadwo Opoku, the chairman of Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Kwabre No. 1 Express Branch, Dr. Mensah, expressed his deep concern about the situation.
The poor road conditions have had a profound impact on both residents and drivers in the area.
Residents have been particularly affected, facing difficulties in commuting and having to endure high transport fares.
“The roads to Antoa, Abirem, Adesina, Krobo, Abira and Bonwire are all in a bad state. Every time we use these roads, our vehicles suffer damages, and we are forced to visit mechanics frequently.”
“The situation becomes even worse during rainfall, as alternative routes have to be taken, resulting in additional inconveniences for drivers and passengers,” he added.
The drivers are appealing to the government for urgent intervention in addressing the deplorable state of the roads.
