Driver Trapped In Car in Accident on Accra-Kumasi Highway

The driver of an Ashok Leyland truck got trapped in the vehicle following a head-on collision with a trailer at Suhum Star Oil on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.

Though the driver and mate of the DAF SF trailer with registration number AS 8718-X escaped unharmed, the impact was borne by the truck and its occupant during the accident on Thursday, June 27, 2024, afternoon.

It took the intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to rescue the victim who is now receiving treatment at the Suhum Government Hospital in the Eastern region.

A statement released by the Service said extrication tools were successfully used in the rescue mission as it confirmed the occupants of the other car escaped unharmed.

“The head of the Ashok Leyland truck was badly mangled while the rear of the DAF SF Trailer was partially damaged.”

Meanwhile, they, are yet to ascertain the cause of the crash.

“The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The Suhum Fire Station’s quick response and effective action is highly commendable.”
