COVID-19 Fight not Over Yet – Health Expert
In a recent interview on the Nkwanntannanso with George Adjei on July 20, Mr. Felix Frimpong, the Ashanti Regional Health Promotion Officer, emphasized that the battle against COVID-19 is far from over and urged the public not to let their guards down.
“There are still significant numbers of people who have not yet received their COVID-19 vaccines. For the country to be on a safer side, at least 70% of the population should have completed the vaccination process, but the current figure is not even up to 60%, ” he said.
He further warned about the potential resurgence of the virus and urged the Ghanaian populace to continue getting vaccinated to achieve the 70% vaccination target to ensure the safety of the country.
To accelerate vaccination efforts, Mr. Frimpong revealed that the Ghana Health Service has dedicated five days, from July 20 to July 25, 2023, for the completion of the three-jab vaccination process.
Additionally, he reassured the public that they can visit any health center at any time to get vaccinated.
According to World Health Organisation (WHO), as of March 26, 2023, a total of 22,384,226 vaccine doses have been administered in Ghana.
