Cook-a-thon: Failatu Hits 80 Hours
Ghanaian chef, Abdul Razak Failatu has entered day four of her attempt to break the longest cooking marathon record after energetically and vibrantly completing the first three days.
As of 8 am on Thursday, January 4, 2024, she had done 80 hours of cooking various delicacies.
She began the challenge on Monday midnight and intends to surpass the current record holder’s marathon of 119 hours 57 minutes.
At the 67th minute on Wednesday night, she had prepared 65 delicious meals, serving a total of 600 plates, an update on her Facebook page said.
According to the update, 150 plates of her meals have been designated to orphanage homes in Tamale in the Northern Region.
The Modern City Hotel where her adventure is ongoing has been lit since the beginning, having military officers jam to songs, musicians perform, traditional and cultural displays and expression of support by celebrities including Wiyaala, Kwabena Kwabena and Yaw Dabo.
Also visiting the venue was the overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abubakari Mahama II, the Northern Regional Minister, Shani Alhassan Saibu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Karaga, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, MP for Tamale South, Hon Haruna Iddrisu, and MP for Tamale Central, Hon. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
She has also received messages of encouragement from Vice President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, former President John Dramani Mahama and leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen.
In a write-up at the 67th minute, she expressed her heartfelt appreciation to Ghanaians.
“Gratitude to everyone involved in making this a heartfelt act of kindness.”
