Cook-a-thon Aimed At Promoting Her Business- Failatu’s Husband
The husband of Chef Abdul-Razak Failatu, Captain Reginald Ofosuhene Adjei has disclosed the motive behind his wife’s daring decision to break a world record in cooking.
In an interview, the military officer told the world the purpose was not just to make a name for herself on the global stage but primarily to promote her restaurant business.
According to him, Faila wanted to promote her continental restaurant, Mickey’s Inn based in Tamale and as such chose the Cook-a-thon.
“My wife is a very daring person. She wanted to take up a challenge for herself and then she wanted to promote her restaurant and she’s always wanted a very big platform to do that. She applied and told me about it later. We were there around 3 am…when she showed me the confirmation message from Guinness,” he told 3 Entertainment.
After this, he said they began racing against time to seek support and sponsorship.
Despite his wife’s go-getter spirit and dedication to her aspirations, he said his initial worry was over the restlessness she would have to endure in the course.
“Faila is not anyone you can doubt. She is always dedicated to a cause…My only worry was the sleep and rest but not being able to stand for a number of days.”
On the massive support and love expressed by Ghanaians so far, her husband called commendable.
“She never saw this coming. She anticipated people would come around but the numbers is overwhelming. People she was not expecting, friends from Accra and all other places showing up. I think it’s commendable.”
Since the start of the challenge at the Modern City Hotel, Chef Faila has received visits from the overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abubakari Mahama II, the Northern Regional Minister, Shani Alhassan Saibu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Karaga, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, MP for Tamale South, Hon Haruna Iddrisu, and MP for Tamale Central, Hon. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
Celebrities including Wiyala, Kwabena Kwabena, Yaw Dabo, Fancy Gadam and more have also visited her.
It is now uncertain when she will end the marathon after doing 113 hours though she initially planned to go 5 days. However, Captain Ofosuhene Adjei said the end would be decided by her medical team.
Though she aspires breaking the 119 hours 57 minutes record by Alan Fisher, she is not ignorant about a Ugandan chef’s attempted 144 hours, seven minutes and 24 seconds which is yet to be certified by the GWR.
