Contact MFA or Our Embassies Before Travelling to Areas of Concern- Ghanaians Directed

The government has directed Ghanaians intending to embark on essential travels to areas of concern to first seek guidance by contacting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the necessary Embassies.

This forms part of the new guidelines for travel to high-risk areas within the sub-region.

It noted that the country’s Embassies and High Commissions in selected jurisdictions are on high consular alert.

Meanwhile, for Ghanaians already living in such jurisdictions, it is recommended that movement be restricted while maintaining regular communication with the Ghanaian Embassies.

This is to provide emergency contacts and ensure that identification documents are accessible at all times to expedite the provision of consular assistance when the need arises.

“The Government of Ghana assures that we are closely monitoring the situation and remain in contact with relevant authorities to safeguard the welfare of our citizens.

“The safety, security, and well-being of Ghanaians remain our utmost priority, and further updates would be provided in this matter as and when necessary.”

It comes after eight Ghanaian tomato traders were killed in terrorist attacks in Burkina Faso. Three others are said to have sustained various degrees of injuries.
