Construction of Krofrom Market Resumes- Regional Minister

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, has reported that construction of the over-decade-old stalled Krofrom Market has resumed.

In a Facebook post, he said the project was being funded by KMA’s 24-hour economy market allocation and the government of Ghana.

“Construction works have resumed on the Krofrom Market. It is now being funded by KMA’s 24-hour economy market allocation and GoG.”

It may be recalled that during a ‘Thank You’ tour by President John Dramani Mahama in July 2025, the project was inspected.

The President promised to complete and operationalise it, noting that it would be featured in the Market Enhancement Programme, which promises to refurbish or build 18 markets across the country.
Sod was cut for the project to begin in 2008 under the late Prof John Evans Atta Mills. It has since stalled as subsequent governments have failed to give it the needed attention.
