Communication Minister Launches Committee to Ensure Sustainable DTT Platform

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has announced the establishment of a committee to develop a fair and transparent cost-sharing model for Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) operations.
The 13-member committee, chaired by the National Communication Authority (NCA), is expected to submit a preliminary report within 30 days, after which stakeholders will be re-engaged.
The composition of the committee has a representation from the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations; National Communications Authority (NCA); Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA); Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC); National Media Commission (NMC) and KNet Ltd.
This was announced during a meeting held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, with key players in the broadcasting industry to discuss the long-term sustainability of the DTT platform.
He highlighted that the DTT remains the platform with the widest national reach and is central to Ghana’s digital broadcasting future.
Also featured on the agenda were issues affecting operational costs, quality of service, network stability, and infrastructure utilisation.
The Minister assured stakeholders that the process would be inclusive and collaborative, with no final decisions taken without further consultation, while emphasising the need for a collaborative approach.
