COCOBOD Distances Itself From Drowning Of Technicians
The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has distanced itself from the drowning of three technicians in a fuel dump tank at Koforidua on Monday, October 9, 2023.
It was reported that the technicians were working on tank located at premises of the COCOBOD office in the Eastern region.
But a statement from the Company discredited the report as a misrepresentation.
“The said fuel dump tank is owned, used and managed by Produce Buying Company (PBC), a limited liability company which is neither a division nor subsidiary of COCOBOD. The exercise that the technicians were engaged to undertake has absolutely nothing to do with COCOBOD.”
It further condoled with the families of the deceased.
The three were said to be part of a team of five technical experts who had been contracted by the Produce Buying Company (PBC) to carry out maintenance work on the fuel reservoir.
One, according to reports fell in the reservoir followed by the two in an attempt to rescue the first.
The relevant security and regulatory agencies have already taken up the matter to ascertain the circumstances under which the three died.
