City’s Riyad Mahrez Joins Saudi Pro League Side Al Ahli
Manchester City has confirmed the departure of winger Riyad Mahrez after five years.
He will now join Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia adding to the several big-name players that have ditched top European leagues.
During his spell at the Etihad, he made 236 appearances scoring 78 goals and assisting 59 times. He won 11 major trophies with City.
The Treble winner joins the Saudi Pro League on a four-year £30 million deal.
In a tweet, the Algerian thanked fans, teammates and staff at Ethihad as he wished them well.
“Today marks the end of an unforgettable chapter in my life, a five-year journey filled with countless memories. Before leaving, I wanted to thank the board, the manager and the staff for giving me the chance to prove myself at the highest level.”
