Circuit Court Judge Dismissed For Sexual Exploitation
Alfred Kwabena Asiedu, a Circuit Court judge for Jasikan in the Oti Region has been handed down termination for engaging in sexual exploitation, abuse of power, malicious prosecution and impropriety against a petitioner.
An investigation was commenced after one Diana Sadia who had a divorce case under the supervision of Mr Asiedu, petitioned the Chief Justice (CJ), about the conduct of the judge against her in January 2023.
A letter by the CJ addressed to the former judge said the Disciplinary Committee of the Judicial Council found ample evidence that affirmed the allegations.
“The Discipline Committee after investigating the above-mentioned matter, found that you misconducted yourself as a Judge as there was ample evidence that you were involved in an improper relationship with the petitioner who had a divorce case pending before you.”
On October 25, the Judicial Council decided on his dismissal during their General meeting.
He has thus been directed to hand over all official properties in his possession while his name has also been blotted out of the payroll of the Service.
Meanwhile, the former judge has denied the allegation.
“Every material allegation made in the petition is false and clearly made out of the figment of the illusioned imagination of the petitioner,” he is quoted to have said in a letter.
