Choose Between Sudan and Ghana; CAF to Kwesi Appiah

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has raised concerns about the double position held in both Ghana and Sudan football by James Kwesi Appiah.

The Ghanaian gaffer is a member of the Ghana Football Association Executive Council and at the same time the head coach of Sudan’s Falcons of Jediane, creating concerns about conflict of interest.

The former Black Stars head coach in a letter by Felix Majani, the Director of Legal Affairs of CAF was asked to remedy the situation at hand as the two countries are booked for a clash in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament qualifiers.

“This situation is contrary to the CAF Statutes and the FIFA Code of Ethics. For that reason and to preserve the integrity of the AFCON qualifiers, I urge you to take immediate action to resolve this conflict of interest, including, at a minimum, temporarily stepping down from one of the two roles until the conclusion of the Competition,” portions of the letter read.

He has until October 8 to inform the Confederation about his decision.

Ghana and Sudan will lock horns in the first leg of a doubleheader at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 10 and then a return leg on October 15 in Libya.
