Chirapatre: Drivers Blame Patricia Appiagyei For Woes Of Newly Built Lorry Station
Opemsuo News Reporter, Kwame Owusu Achaw, has reported that the newly constructed lorry station at Chirapatre in the Asokwa Municipal and handed over to drivers who ply the Atonsu-Bosomtwe road has virtually abandoned the new edifice.
When he visited the station this morning as he reported on the Nkwantananso Show, he found out that the spacious station designed for a large fleet of vehicles are being occupied by a few taxi drivers without a single trotro vehicle at the station.
In his interaction with a few drivers spotted at the new station, they said drivers who are supposed to offload passengers at the new station from Kejetia have failed to do so while an unapproved station has been created at the Atonsu High School Junction for which reason passengers have refused to patronize the new station.
They accused the Asokwa Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon Patricia Appiagyei for being behind the illegal lorry station at the High School Junction at the expense of the new station.
Explaining the reason why they are blaming Hon Patricia Appiagyei for the woes of drivers at the new station, they said the MP at one of their regular meetings emphatically told the drivers to operate from their initial stations in spite of the fact that all stations were to close down after completion of the new edifice for their own good. Her comments they believe have emboldened recalcitrant drivers who have refused to operate from the new station
The Station Chairman on his part told Kwame Owusu Achaw authorities at the Asokwa Municipal assured them they were going to close down all stations that were operating along the Atonsu – Bosomtwe stretch once they complete and hand over the new lorry station, a promise which they have failed to honour.
