Chinese-speaking Ghanaians Seek Collaboration with Forestry Commission

A group calling itself the Chinese Speakers’ Association of Ghana (CSAG) has officially written to the Forestry Commission seeking collaboration for smooth prosecution of Chinese offenders in cases of illegal mining in the country.

They approached the Commission after the Deputy Greater Accra Regional Manager of the Forestry Commission, George Agbenowoshi, lamented about the challenges they confront in the prosecution of Chinese nationals in such cases.

Speaking at an event marking the Green Ghana Day on June 7, Mr Agbenowoshi revealed the challenge obstructs prosecution leading to their release.

“Issues of mining activities involving Chinese that it takes an interpreter to interpret the language, we find it difficult to get such interpreter and so such cases are thrown out of Court.”

In reaction to this, the Chinese-speaking Ghanaians have written to the Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission introducing themselves and extending a hand for collaboration.

“We are writing to introduce the Chinese Speakers’ Association of Ghana (CSAG), an organization dedicated to bridging the language gap between Chinese-speaking individuals, companies, investors, and local authorities in Ghana.”

The group established and registered in Ghana with a wide network of all African Professionals in Ghana who speak Chinese as a second language leverage the power of language in unity to change and transform lives in Africa, it said.

They are willing to offer their services at an affordable cost.

“To address this issue, we are pleased to officially inform you that CSAG is readily available to provide professional translation and interpretation services to your reputable outfit. Our association consists of qualified translators and interpreters who are proficient in both Mandarin and English, ensuring effective communication between your officers and Chinese-speaking individuals. We are committed to supporting the efforts of the Forestry Commission and can offer our services at an affordable fee to facilitate the legal processes.”
