Charged Anim Addo Ready For GFA Disciplinary Committee
Former member of the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Sammy Anim Addo has served notice of his readiness to meet the Association’s Disciplinary Committee after he was slapped with a charge of misconduct.
The Committee has given him until Monday, January 13, 2025, to respond to the charges.
The President of Premier League side Young Apostles is willing to subject himself to the dictates of the law, he has said.
“I am a law-abiding citizen and I respect every rule of the game so when the time comes for me to respond, I will do that in accordance with the regulations,” he said on Joy News’ Prime Sports.
Allegation
In a social media post, Anim Addo accused the GFA of using referee Maxwell Hanson for “dirty works”.
His rant followed Accra Lions’ outburst over “unprofessional” officiation by Referee Hanson during their 1-0 loss to Dreams FC on Sunday.
“Maxwell Hanson is their man for ‘dirty works’. I sounded the alarm bells months ago, but I was vehemently challenged with every attempt to ‘shush’ me by the leadership of Ghana Football… His disgraceful conduct undermines the league’s quality,” Anim Addo posted on X.
Additionally, he alleged that he had been threatened with relegation of Young Apostles- his club- which was promoted into the GPL last season.
“I have been threatened many times already that this GFA administration will ensure foul means to relegate my club, Young Apostles. But I want to sound caution to them that it is not the worst they can do to me and my continuous investment and commitment to Ghana football.”
Charge
The Disciplinary Committee of the FA in a notice to him on January 9, 2025, said his conduct constituted misconduct and dragged the game of the GFA and the Ghana Premier League (GPL) into “disrepute”.
It further alleged that parts of his commentary involved accusations against march officials without proof.
