Celebrating the Pillar of Peace: Otumfuo Deserves the Gold Coin Honour- Prez

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is a firm believer that Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is more than worthy of the honour of a commemorative gold coin looking at His Majesty’s trajectory in the peacebuilding and conflict resolution in the country particularly in the settlement of the Dagbon Chieftaincy crisis.

The statement of President Akufo-Addo comes to play in E On 3 Group’s today’s celebration of the Pillar of Peace- the 16th King of the Asante Kingdom- as the multipurpose business entity reflects on the resolution of the conflict which lasted for nearly two decades and only succumbed to the intervention of Otumfuo.

As a humble recognition of this feat and other dispute resolutions by the King, E ON 3 and other stakeholders in 2021 minted a commemorative 24-carat Gold Coin in his honour, a piece of which was presented to President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House on January 27, 2022.

The business group recalled how the President showered praises on Asantehene for restoring peace in Dagbon and paving the way for the enskinment of a new Ya-Na.

“Otumfuo deserves the gold coin honour,” the President stated.

Roadmap
The roadmap to the Dagbon peace, reconciliation and reunification was initiated by President Kufuor and completed during the presidency of Nana Akufo-Addo.

Bawku crisis
Otumfuo is currently working to resolve the bloody Bawku chieftaincy dispute.

“I have been listening to all the parties as part of the process to get the matter resolved”, the Asantehene said as he works to calm down the guns in Bawku for peace to prevail.

The general belief of Ghanaians is that the wisdom that Otumfuo applied to bring peace to Dagbon will manifest itself in Bawku.
