CAF League: Samartex Depart for Cameroon

FC Samartex 1996 have departed the country for Cameroon ahead of their debut in the CAF Champions League this season.

The travelling team led by Head Coach Nurudeen Amadu, Assistant Coach Henry Wellington and Goalkeeper Coach Ernest Kommey included two goal keepers, seven midfielders, three forwards and six defenders.

The players are Michael Ephson, Baba Hamadu Musah, Emmanuel Mamah, Kofi Baah, Japheth Norvienye, Emmanuel Acquah, Ebenezer Adu Siaw, James Sewornu, Desmond Gyabeng, Isaac Afful, Samuel Tetteh, Ebenezer Ocran, Lord Hillary Adabo, Francis Gyetuah, Baba Kushibo, Felix Kodua Jnr and Emmanuel Owusu Boakye.


They will face Victoria United FC in the preliminary round of the 2024-25 CAF Champions League on Sunday, August 18, 2024.

On their arrival, the team will undertake some training sessions before the game on Sunday.

Stakeholders have expressed their well wishes to the team in the continental campaign with Asante Kotoko leading the charge.

In a social media post, the Porcupines extended best wishes to both Samartex and Nsoatreman.

“From all of us at Asante Kotoko SC, we wish our two representatives making their maiden African appearance the very best of luck. It’s your time to shine FC Samartex, Nsoatreman.”

Prior to their departure, the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Simeon Kurt Okraku visited the two clubs to encourage them.
