Bust of COP Tiwaa At EOCO Premises Dismantled

A bust erected three months ago in honour of the Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), COP Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, has been dismantled by unknown persons.

The monument was built by staff of the Office and unveiled on October 18, 2024.

“Obaatanpa Tiwaa Gardens to the Glory of God dedicated to COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah (Mrs) by the entire staff of EOCO in appreciation of her invaluable contribution to the welfare of the members of staff on Friday, 18th October 2024,” a description on the bust read.

The monument was found in a heap of debris on Tuesday, January 7, 2024, after the swearing-in ceremony of new President John Dramani Mahama.

The development has caused a myriad of reactions on social media. With some defending the act, others have strongly condemned and called for immediate arrest of the perpetrators.

It is unknown the motive for the destruction, however, it would be recalled that the unveiling of the bust generated public sentiments and stirred a backlash and dissatisfaction from a section of Ghanaians who deemed it inappropriate.

On social media on October 19, 2024, while reacting to the circulation of the news of the unveiling, a Facebook user by the name Prissy Ekua Adiepena Hemans promised the statue would be destroyed.

She, therefore, urged the EOCO boss to take as many pictures as she could before it happened.

“We will break it down. So someone should inform her to take all the pictures she want to.”

This comes weeks after another statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi- which attracted public outcry- was also destroyed by some unknown persons.
