Brodi Chieftaincy Dispute Catches Asantehene’s Attention

The attention of the Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has been drawn to the lingering chieftaincy dispute involving Brodi, a town in the Tain District of the Bono Region.
Otumfuo referenced the dispute at the Kumasi Traditional Council meeting on Monday, February 24, 2025, directing his Registrar to make room for it to be laid before the Council immediately.
This was when Odeneho Shie Boffour II, the chief of Brodi, appeared before His Majesty to pay homage.
“I have seen your interview in which you were complaining about the money you have spent in coming here always for your cases. You didn’t tell me, I watched it.”
Otumfuo thus directed his Registrar to make room for the cases to be brought before the Council in the coming days.
The chief has two separate cases at the Committee level.
In the first case, Debibi claims Brodi is his sub-chief, a claim contested by the latter.
In the second case, the royal status of the Brodihene is under contention as a group has invoked the Great Oath against him, claiming he is not a royal.
