BoG To Hold Emergency MPC Meeting Today
The Central Bank of Ghana will today, August 17, 2022, hold a Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) emergency meeting.
This is ahead of the 108th MPC meeting slated between September 20, 2022 and September 22, 2022.
The emergency meeting is in view of the recent economic developments, the Bank of Ghana (BoG) said.
This comes after Standard and Poor’s downgraded Ghana’s foreign and local currency credit from B-/B to CCC+/C and Fitch downgraded Ghana’s Long-Term Foreign-Currency (LTFC) Issuer Default Rating (IDR) to ‘CCC’ from ‘B-‘.
During the last MPC meeting in July, the Bank stayed policy rate over a projected “deceleration in the rate of increase in inflation”.
