Black Stars Management Committee Dissolved
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has dissolved the Black Stars Management Committee following the team’s failure in the Nations Cup qualifiers in which they secured just three points from six games.
The Committee was made up of Vice President of the FA, Mark Addo as the Chairman, Kwasi Agyemang as the Vice Chairman, Samuel Osei Kuffuor, Kwame Ofosu Bamfo, former Ghana Captain Stephen Appiah, Colonel Kwadwo Damoah (Rtd.), Alhaji Karim Grusah and Randy Abbey.
It was constituted two years ago with the ultimate responsibility of directing the activities of the team, ensuring it is well-run and delivering the outcomes, monitoring the activities of the Technical team, the Medical team and the Playing body to ensure they are keeping with the founding principles, objectives and values of the team.
The FA announced the dissolution of the Committee after an emergency meeting on November 20, 2024 in a statement which apologized for the massive failure of the Otto Addo-led Black Stars.
“In doing so, we sincerely thank the members of the Committee for their service to Ghana Football over the years,” it added.
Additionally, the Executive Council will meet the Head Coach of the Black Stars on November 24 to discuss his Technical report on the just ended AFCON qualifiers and the overall performance of the Technical team since assuming duty earlier this year.
Apologising to Ghanaians for the disappointment, it said, “The Ghana Football Association (GFA) wishes to express its sincerest apologies to the good people of Ghana for the Black Stars’ inability to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025.
“We understand the disappointment and frustration this failure has caused, and we share in the pain and sadness of our beloved fans. We acknowledge that the team’s performance did not meet the high expectations of the nation, and for that, we are truly sorry.”
The Black Stars failed to win any of the six qualifying games for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament scheduled to take place in Morocco.
