Black Stars First AFCON Training In Pictures
The Black Stars have already set the ball rolling with intensive training and preparation towards the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
They took their first training in Kumasi at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
It comes after a public backlash against authorities for an initial plan to camp the players in South Africa for their preparation.
Present at the training ground were Joseph Wollacott, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Alidu Seidu, Denis Odoi, Kingsley Schindler, Gideon Mensah, Abdul Fatawu Hamid, Nicholas Opoku and Daniel Amartey.
Also present were Salisu Mohammed, Alexander Djiku, Baba Iddrisu, Elisha Owusu, Abdul Samed Salis, Richmond Lamptey, Majeed Ashimeru, Andre Ayew, Ransford Yeboah Koningsdorffer, Osman Bukari, Joseph Painstil, Ernest Nuamah, Antoine Semenyo and Jonathan Sowah.
Ahead of their opening game in the Nations Cup, Chris Hughton’s side will host an international friendly against Namibia on Monday, January 8, 2024.
Ghana is paired in Group B in the AFCON tournament with Cape Verde, Egypt and Mozambique.
Their first game will be against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, 2024, and take on Egypt four days later before their final group match against Mozambique on January 2024.
