Black Queens Leave Ghana for Japan Clash
The national women’s team of Ghana, Black Queens, have left the country for Tokyo for a friendly game against the national women’s team of Japan.
After calling 33 players, only 22 were salvaged for the trip after a four-day training.
A statement from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) said 19 players, the technical team and management members left the country, with a few more players scheduled to fly out later to join their colleagues for the tie.
The players are Grace Asantewaa, Princess Marfo, Linda Eshun, Philomena Abakah, Grace Acheampong, Mukarama Abdulai, Anasthasia Achiaa, Princella Adubea, Adama Alhassan and Susan Ama Duah.
Also included are Victoria A Agyei, Freda Ayisi, Evelyn Badu, Doris Boaduwaa, Portia Boakye, Azuma Bugre, Cynthia K Fiindib, Alice Kusi, Nina Norshie, Stella Nyamekye, Jacqueline Owusu and Mavis Owusu.
The game will take place at the Kanazawa Go Go Curry Stadium on Saturday, July 13, 2024.
“Nora Häuptle will use the game to assess her players for future competitions, including the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco,” the statement noted.
Meanwhile, Japan will use the game to prepare for the Olympic Games in Paris in France.
